Forest vs Malmö and past encounters. The two clubs have a historical link, also facing each other in Forest's last European campaign in the 1995-96 Uefa Cup, but it is the continental championship from 1979 that connects these teams, with the record-breaking signing Francis netting the decisive goal of a largely forgettable match to claim legendary status for the the English club.

It's also interesting to consider Malmö, who became the first, and to date the last Scandinavian side to make the championship match under English manager Bob Houghton.
This match is a far cry from that summit, closer perhaps to the Uefa Cup first-round tie between Forest and Malmö in 1995-96. Forest are full of confidence after beating Liverpool 3-0 at Liverpool's home on Saturday, while Malmö haven't kicked a competitive ball since last month following the conclusion of their domestic campaign. The general expectation is on the English side tonight.
